Business Car Users will love the Skoda Superb iV and as a plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) it’s very kind on the pay packet when it comes to Benefit-in-Kind (BiK). WLTP range on this car is around 37 miles, but we see this closer to 30 miles with the current conditions and it has been reported that some drivers have seen 34 miles on a full charge.
Internals
Inside the car and it feels very spacious, with plenty of room for the rear passengers and a huge boot giving plenty of cargo space.
Upfront and the seats are a delight to sit in and the cabin feels quality and on par with its relations in the German automotive industry.
Infotainment is excellent and we love that Apple CarPlay and Android Auto has been included in their set-up.
Externals
We’re offering the current Skoda Superb and the new Superb Estate is due out very soon, but this model looks good with good looking Alloys and slick lines. The boot tapers off nicely down to the rear lights.
The bonnet seems very long but again curves to the front grille with the prominent ‘chicken’ badge. It really is nice looking.
Performance and Economy
For those that follow the VAG group, the pairing of a 1.4 litre engine with a battery/motor combo should be very familiar, with the VW Golf GTE and Audi A3 eTFSI sharing the same set-up through the amazing DSG gearbox.
As we’ve already mentioned, on a full charge it will allow you to travel around 35 miles of pure-electric power. Mated with the engine we saw figures in excess of 60mpg on some of our routes. Resetting the counter and having a few weeks of school and office runs, we saw 46.8mpg average which is pretty good.
The car feels nippy from a standing start, this is thanks to the electric motor that gives it a nice kick. It’s a heavy car to transport yet feels surprisingly quick.
