Subaru is a vehicle manufacturer that was founded in the 7th July 1953 with the first Subaru car introduced in 1954. Subaru is famous for its all wheel drive vehicles and has a fantastic history in the world of Rallying.
The first ever Subaru car was called the Subaru 1500, only 20 of these were manufactured due to supply issues.
Subaru entered the world of rallying in 1980 using Subaru Leone Coupe’s, Saloon DL, RX and an RX Turbo. There most successful time was using modifed versions of the Impreza WRX and the WRX STi, with Colin McRae, Richard Burns and Peter Solberg all winning the World Championship Titles in 1995, 2001 and 2003, respectively.
Subaru had one stint in Formula One in 1990, when it bought an interest in a small Italian team call the Coloni Team. The partnership broke down before the season finished.
