The Mercedes-Benz name first appeared in 1926 under Daimler-Benz but can be traxed back to a 1901 Mercedes and Karl Benz’s 1886 Benz Patent Motorwagen. The latter is regarded as the first automobile. Mercedes-Benz is part of the German Big 3 luxury car makers, alongside BMW and Audi.
Mercedes-Benz history can be traced back to Karl Benz’s creation of the first petrol powered car, it was originally financed by Bertha Benz and patented in January 1886. Gottlieb Daimler and engineer Wilhelm Maybach, converted a stagecoach and added a petrol engine later that year. The first Mercedes-Benz brand name vehicle wasn’t produced until 1926.
Mercedes-Benz is also know for being one of the oldest vehicle brands in the world, still in existence in 2014.
Mercedes also has a great history of Motorsport, with its own works team currently competing in the Formula One. Also its association with Mclaren can be traced back quite a long way.
Mercedes Benz now manufactures a wide range of vehicles from Small Hatchbacks to large Saloons such as the S Class.
