Bentley Motors Ltd is a British Luxury Car maker which are mostly assembled at their plant in Crewe. Bentley is a wholly owned subsidy of Volkswagen since 1998. When VW purchased Bentley, it included vehicle designs, model nameplates, production and administration facilities.
Bentley was formed in Cricklewood on the 18th January 1919, Rolls Royce acquired Bentley in 1931 after Bentley went into receivership. The rights of the name and logo still belong to Rolls-Royce Holdings plc but later licenced to BMW.
As of November 2012, China was the largest individual market for Bentley vehicles. Although the majority of vehicles are built in Crewe, a number of the Continental Flying Spur’s re assembled at their plant in Dresden in Germany. Bodies for the Continental model are produced in Zwickau in Germany. The majority of Bentley vehicles are hand built.
Bentley have also had relatively good success in motorsport, in particular Le Mans where they took 1st place in 1924, 1927, 1928, 1929 and 1930. A Bentley Continental GT3 won the Silverstone round of the 2014 Blancpain Endurance Series, this was Bentley’s first official entry in a British Race since the 193 RAC Tourist Trophy.
Bentley currently have a number of modes available including the very successful Bentley Continental GT and GTC.
