There’s no doubt that the future is going to be electric and up until recently there has been a lack of options when it came to electric cars.
There has been a lot of talk about the cost of electric cars, with a fully electric car like the Tesla Model S from new costing in the region of £72,000 (although this is much lower than when they were first released).
Manufacturers are now however recognising consumer demand and have listened to what the public want. As a result of that, the Nissan Leaf has been really popular and are still very much sought after.
There was also a gap in the market for an electric car that doesn’t look like something from the space age. Consumers are looking for a car that will look after the environment as well as a vehicle that looks good, that isn’t too different to the types of vehicle they are used to.
Although electric SUVs are already available, Mercedes have now just announced the release of their fully electric SUV into the market (expected to come off production lines in 2019) and we suspect that the interest will be high!
If you’ve had anxiety about range, then worry no more. The new Mercedes has two electric motors that will offer a range of over 450km which is incredibly competitive against other fully electric vehicles on the market.
Mercedes also plan to release more models over the period up to 2022.
Mercedes are not alone, the big German brands are also upping the anti with their own luxury electric cars, as is Jaguar.
