The Fiat 500 Hybrid Returns

After a brief hiatus, Fiat has confirmed that the petrol-powered Fiat 500 Hybrid is going back into production, giving drivers another chance to own or lease this much-loved urban icon. The announcement is welcome news for those who aren’t quite ready to make the full switch to electric.

A Hybrid Comeback with a Familiar Look

Originally taken off sale in August 2023 to make way for the all-electric Fiat 500e, the mild-hybrid version will be back on production lines in Italy by November 2025. It will feature the same 1.0-litre mild-hybrid engine as before — combining petrol power with electric support for improved efficiency and lower emissions.

And in a clever design move, the new 500 Hybrid will wear the same body styling as the Fiat 500e — with a sleeker front grille, signature headlight design, and a sportier rear spoiler. So even if you’re not going fully electric, you’ll still get the modern aesthetics.

Fiat’s Commitment to Style, Affordability, and Local Manufacturing

Fiat CEO Olivier Francois said:

“The 500 Hybrid offers affordable electrification and iconic style. With the 500 Hybrid, we are strengthening production at Mirafiori to ensure the plant’s productivity and meet the demand.”

This reinforces Fiat’s ongoing commitment to manufacturing in Italy and keeping their most iconic models — the Panda and the 500 — true to their roots.

What This Means for Cocoon Drivers

At Cocoon Vehicles, we know how popular the Fiat 500 has always been — especially among short-term drivers and city-based professionals. The combination of compact dimensions, stylish looks and running-cost efficiency makes it a top pick for:

  • New starters using car subscriptions

  • Urban professionals on salary sacrifice schemes

  • Drivers who want low-commitment, short-term leases

While the Hybrid version isn’t available just yet, we’ll be keeping a close eye on its return — and working to ensure it’s available for flexible, low-risk leasing and subscription options as soon as it hits the UK market.
