The Polestar 2 had a recent refresh and we’re pleased to have these on our car subscription and short-term car lease fleet, available to both business and personal users. Today we thought we’d share some feedback from customers who have taken delivery, these comments include:
Cocoon recommended me to try the Polestar 2 to see how I liked it, I really wanted a Tesla but these weren't available at the time. I'm glad I listened, I'm 5 months in and there is no way it is going back.
I needed something kinder on my company car tax but something I didn't have to worry about when it came to range. I get around 300-325 miles out of a full charge and with a rapid charger and a coffee, I can top this up in no time at all.
Very impressed with the Polestar 2, coming out of a Tesla Model 3 I am blown away with the build quality and the comfort. Only thing I wish it had was Wireless Apple CarPlay.
Polestar 2 in Numbers
Range:
Real range estimation is between 200 miles and 350 miles depending on the variant. In the Long Range Single Motor this is quoted as being between 210 to 425 miles (we’ve easily got 350 miles out of our demo). The Long Range Dual Motor version gives you a range of around 205 to 410 miles.
Prices:
Prices of the Polestar 2 currently start from £44,950 for the Polestar 2 Standard Single Motor version up to £57,950 for the Polestar 2 Long Range Performance, their are a few upgrades available for this vehicle which include the Plus Pack, Pilot Pack and the Pro Pack. We’d definately opt for the Plus Pack which gives you a fixed panoramic roof, LED Front Fog Lights with cornering function, WeaveTech seats with Black ash deco inlays, High-level interior illumination, Fully-electric front seats, power operated tailgate with a foot sensor and the rear floor ‘lid in lid’ with bag holder.
Performance:
As with most electric vehicles, they don’t hang around under acceleration, the base model Polestar 2 Standard Range Single Motor will whisk you to 62mph in 6.2 seconds, opt for the Polestar 2 Long Range Performance and this cuts it down to 4.2 seconds.
Battery Size:
The EV Database offers the battery size listings in ‘useable battery’ figures, so we will use the same figures. For the Polestar 2 Standard Range Signle Motor the useable battery is 68kWh, this rises to 79kWh for the Polestar 2 Long Range Single Motor, Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor, and the Polestar 2 Long Range Performance model.
Charging Time:
As we know charging times is super important for all drivers who use electric cars, especially those that drive long distances in a day.
For the Polestar 2 Standard Range Signle Motor model, a rapid charger will take around 27 minutes from 25 to 255 miles. It can take on a max of 180 kW DC. At home expect 0 to 255 miles in 7hrs and 30 minutes based on it being an 11kW charger.
For the Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor, the maximum charge from a rapid charge increases to 205 kW DC taking it from 28 miles to 228 miles in 28 minutes. At home expect 8 hours and 30 minutes from 0 to 285 miles at 11kW. The Long Range Single Motor is very similar to this figure.
Road Tax:
Vehicle Excise Duty is currently £0 per annum, however, this will change in the future based on Government announcements.
Boot Size:
The boot offers 407 litres of space, which is ideal for most people with or without families. In the frunk you will find 41 litres of space, which is ideal for the electric charging cable.
Vehicle Size:
The Polestar 2 is quite a large car, the length of the vehicle is 4606 mm, width 1859mm (1985mm with mirrors) and it has a height of 1479 mm. Depending on the model, the car weighs approx. 2175 kg.
ISOFIX:
The Polestar 2 has 2 ISOFIX points located on the outer 2 rear seats. There are removable covers that exposes the ISOFIX points in the vehicle.
Car chairs can be put in the front passenger seat with a seatbelt and the airbag can easily be deactivated for rear facing child seats.
