Paul Stone Retires from Cocoon Vehicles
Last night saw Rhys and Rebecca Adams hand Paul Stone his last wage slip and P45 after 12 years of service, Paul stepped away from the business in January 2018, mainly due to ill-health but remained on the board as a non-executive Director.
How did Paul get involved with Cocoon Vehicles?
Paul used to work with Myron Nykolyszyn previously at Perry’s Motor Group, they both spoke in early 2008 as Cocoon opened its first office on Victoria Way on Pride Park in Derby.
Paul, at the time, was working for Marcol Ltd in Burton on the Wolds, he provided us with contract hire & leasing quotes for our clients. Looking for new and fresh opportunity, Rhys and Myron gave Paul the option t invest in Cocoon.
Paul started in August 2008 and made a huge difference to the business straightaway, bringing on board new funders and suppliers as well as implementing new systems.
Between the 3 Directors, Paul, Myron and Rhys were approached by Lombard about a credit line to purchase some vehicles, this was on the back of a conversation Paul had with Lombard due to the high number of declines after the credit crunch.
The credit line enabled the company to purchase 5x Audi A3’s, these were the first cars that we offered on our own short-term car lease contracts and helped us cut out companies that just paid a commission such as Flexxilease and Equalease.
Thanks from Cocoon Vehicles
We can’t thank Paul enough for his work and support over the years, being a major cog in the gearbox that is Cocoon Vehicles.
Paul stepped away from the business in 2018 after ill-health, Rebecca Adams (Rhys’) wife purchased Paul’s share of the business so that Paul could semi-retire, whilst still providing help and advice where required.
Its a sad day for the team here at Cocoon Vehicles, but we wish Paul and Hilary all the best for his retirement. We have truly made some best friends and will keep in touch, for sure.
