Driving Impressions – Composed, Sporty and Fuel Efficient
Over the course of a week, we covered a mix of motorway miles and rural B-roads, and the CLA 180 AMG Line Premium handled both effortlessly.
On the motorway, the car feels planted and refined, with a notably low seating position that gives a more engaging driving feel compared to many cars in this class.
The 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine offers smooth, linear power delivery with excellent real-world efficiency. We consistently saw 50+ mpg during longer runs – a key benefit for both private and business users.
Around Belper and into the Peak District, the CLA truly impressed. Despite its coupe silhouette, the handling is precise and confident, making twisty back roads an absolute pleasure. The suspension balances control and comfort extremely well, and there’s a reassuring grip through the corners.
Seamless Tech – Apple CarPlay is a Highlight
The Apple CarPlay integration in the CLA is one of the best we’ve used. It’s wireless, quick to connect, and integrates perfectly into the MBUX infotainment system. Whether you’re navigating unfamiliar roads or streaming your favourite playlist, it just works – and adds to the ease of daily driving.
The twin 10.25” displays, one for the digital cockpit and one for infotainment, offer crisp graphics and intuitive control, whether by touch, touchpad, or voice. The Premium trim also brings additional comfort and convenience features, including keyless entry, upgraded sound, and enhanced navigation functionality.
