Toyota

Toyota Motor Corporation was founded 28th August 1937 by Kilchiro Toyoda, in Japan. In July 2012 Toyota produced its 200 millionth vehicle and is the worlds first vehicle manufacturer to produce more than 10 million vehicles per year.

Toyota’s first car was the A1 passenger car and then in 1935 the G1. Sakichi Toyoda invented the Automatic Loom which effectively switched the production line off if there was a problem, this idea was sold to a British company and helped fund the Automobile Development within Toyota.

Toyota were the first company to mass produce hybrid electric vehicles with the introduction of the Toyota Prius in 1997. Off the back of this technology they introduced the system into the Yaris and Auris as well as introducing a few other vehicles from the Prius sector.
