Polestar is a Swedish car brand established in 1996 by Volvo Cars’ partner Flash/Polestar racing. It was aqquired in 2015 by Volvo.
Polestar is to be treated as a totally separate brand away from Volvo, although still remains co-owned by Volvo and Geely. With its headquarters based in Gothenburg, Sweden and the vehicle manufacturing taking place in China.
The first Polestar car was introduced in 2017 as the Polestar 1, it is a luxury 2+2 coupe inspired by a Volvo concept car introduced in 2013. Teh Polestar 1 features an electric hybrid drivetrain.
In 2019, the Polestar 2 was announced and is a battery electric vehicle (BEV). This vehicle is produced in Luqiao in China. Further models will be launched over the years.
