Manufacturer History

Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd is a British manufacturer of Grand Tourers and Luxury Sports Cars, it was founded in 1913 by Robert Bamford and Lionel Martin.

The firm made luxury grand touring cars in the 50’s and 60’s and became associated with James Bond after they used an Aston Martin DB5 in the film Goldfinger in 1964.

Aston Martin had to file for bankruptcy in the 1970’s but overall the company has seen success and stability, with even Ford owning the company between 1994 and 2007. As of 2010 the companies revenue was in excess of £470 million, with a net income of £7.6 million.

On 12th March 2007, a consortium led by David Richards of Prodrive, purchased Aston Matin for £475 million, the group included investment banker John Singers, Investment Dar (Kuwait) and Adeem Investment (Kuwait). Ford kept a stake valued at £40 million in Aston Martin.

Production of Aston Martins ins concentrated in Gaydon, an ex RAF base and home to the Heritage Motor Museum.

Aston Martin currently produce the Aston Martin Rapide, Aston Martin Vanquish and the Aston Martin Vantage.
