If you hold a full UK driving licence and you are not currently disqualified, then the process is nice and easy, we may require a DVLA Check Code.
Non-UK Driving Licences
If you have a non-UK Driving Licence but you are a resident of the United Kingdom, or planning to work over in the UK as an Expat, then there may be a few extra conditions you may need to meet.
What are the conditions?
Northern Ireland Driving Licence
If you hold a Driving Licence issued in Northern Ireland, we can accept this so long as it is a full licence and is valid.
Gibraltar, Jersey and Guernsey
All driving licences issued in either Gibraltar, Jersey or Guernsey will be accepted so long as you have been resident of the UK for less than 12 months, if you have been in the UK for 12 months or more, you will need to exchange your driving licence for one that is UK issued.
Isle of Man
If you have an Isle of Man issued driving licence, we can accept this so long as you have been resident in the UK for less than 12 months, if you have been in the United Kingdom for 12 months plus, you will need to exchange your driving licence for a UK issued version.
Designated Countries*
If you have a driving licence issued in Andorra, Australia, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Canada, Falkland Islands, Faroe Islands, Hong Kong, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland or Zimbabwe then we can accept your driving licence so long as you have not been a resident in the UK for less that 12 months. If you have been in the United Kingdom for 12 months plus, you will need to exchange your driving licence for one that is UK issued.
EU or EEA
If you have a licence issued in the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA), we can accept this so long as it is valid and complies with the categories required.
Other Countries
If your country is not listed above but you have been resident in the UK for less than 12 months, then we can accept it on the basis that it is valid and covers the relevant vehicle categories. If you have been in the country longer than 12 months, then you will need to apply for a provisional licence and pass a practical driving test to obtain a UK issued licence.
Correct Address
It is really important that you have the correct address on your UK licence, failure to do so, could result in a fine of up to £1,000. You can update your driving licence address by clicking on the highlighted link.
