Mitsubishi pull out of UK
With the shock announcement in July 2020 that Mitsubishi will be exiting the UK car market due to heavy financial losses, here at Cocoon Vehicles we’re going to reflect on 3 things we’ll miss about Mitsubishi.
Mitsubishi’s investment in Plugin’s
Mitsubishi really did make the effort when it came to introducing Plugin-Hybrids (PHEV) into the UK market, with the Mitsubishi Outlander being an extremely popular choice on a short-term car lease or traditional contract hire agreement.
With its 28 mile, range when driving in EV only, the commute to the office suddenly became extremely cheap and it didn’t take too long to charge from a 3-pin plug, our only issue were the people who left their cars in the charging bays at Intu Derby for 4-5 hours whilst they did a shop, preventing all electric cars such as the BMW i3 and the Nissan Leaf from having a top-up.
Pickup a Mitsubishi L200
The Mitsubishi L200 hasn’t really changed much over the years, but why change a design that just works and works.
Its a solid contender in the world of Commercial Pickups with the likes of the VW Amarok, Mercedes X-Class and the Nissan Navara, all trying to take the L200 on and either falling short or failing.
The L200 was a regular in the Cocoon Vehicles yard, with most going out on 6 or 12 month van leases. Not everyone had it as a work horse, some just wanted a pickup for the odd camping trip or benefit in kind friendly perks.
New Models No More
It was an exciting time for Mitsubishi in 2020 and 2021, with a few new models that were due to hit the UK roads.
This included the Mitsubishi ASX with plugin capabilities and the Series 6 L200, however, Mitsubishi will now be concentrating on dwindling the UK stock, so if you do want a Mitsubishi, be quick.
