25 Years of Toyota in Derby

Saturday 16th December marked the 25th Anniversary of the date the very first car was driven off the production line in Toyota’s Derbyshire based branch.

When Toyota first opened its Burnaston site back in 1992, it was with promise that the firm would bring jobs and opportunities to the local community and 25 years later, it is evidence that it lived up to that promise.

From opening back in 1992, the firm has produced over 4 million vehicles from this single site and has attracted visits from the former Prime Minister David Cameron as well as Royalty including Prince Charles.

The Derby site is also conscious in trying to ‘give something back’ be it from the large-scale solar panel fitted onto the roof of the car plant or the £5.5 million which it has donated to local charities and organisations.

Toyota are also keen to share ‘trade secrets’ with other companies in order to help assist them in areas such as quality, profitability and efficiency. It does this by offering chargeable seminars to other companies to attend and then donates the charges to the Toyota Manufacturing UK Charitable Trust.

With a company with the ability to produce a car on its production line every 66 seconds, and their forward and responsible thinking, it really is no wonder that Toyota are one of the world’s leading car brands today.

Here at Cocoon Vehicles, we’re proud to be able to offer many Toyota models on both short-term lease and longer term contracts. With the Toyota Aygo available from as little as 28 days and just £249 + VAT per month, you’d be mad to miss such a great opportunity.
